Where To Access a Free Stock Screener With Pre-Define Options

To access Investing.com’s pre-defined screeners, first head over to the Stock Screener. The pre-defined screeners are on the right-hand side, just next to the main Screener fields, under the “Popular Screeners” heading.

      Learn More 📜

If you’re looking for more of a general guide, take a look at our “How To Use Stock Screeners” article here on the Investing.com Academy.

Here you’ll find several of the most popular pre-defined screeners, and you can click on any of them to check them out. For instance, if you click on Momentum Masters, you’ll see the results table (at the bottom of the Stock Screener page) reflect this screener’s specifications.

The screener’s metrics are all located under the Returns tab in the screener: stocks that are (a) in positive territory for the past week, and (b) up more than 25% for the past three and six months:

      Customizing A Screener

But you can tweak the specific metrics of the pre-defined screeners any way you wish: if you don’t care about the past week’s price movements, for instance, simply remove that criterium. If you’d like to see a big year-to-date jump as well, feel free to add that in. The sky’s the limit, and that goes for any of these pre-defined screeners: you can use them as is, or you can treat them as jumping-off points for your own customized stock screen.

And you’re not limited to the handful of pre-defined screeners listed on the main Stock Screener page, either. Click “View All,” under that list, to access the complete collection, and you’ll initially see the full list of the most popular screeners:

But you can dig deeper and explore all of the pre-defined screeners by theme, as well. Here, for instance, is what you’ll see under the Value tab:

For each pre-defined screener, investors get a quick summary of what the screen specifies and its risk level. You also get a nice snapshot of the prior-three-month returns yielded by the stocks currently meeting the screen’s criteria.

      Popular Stock Screener Pre-Defines

Here’s a quick peek at a few of the many pre-defined screeners offered by Investing.com:

      Under $10/share

This straightforward screener caters both to momentum and growth investors. It filters for sub-$10 stocks that are also up more than 25% in the prior week.

(If you specify a non-U.S. market, the screener converts the dollar amount to the appropriate currency, based on current exchange rates. For instance, at the time of this writing, choosing a eurozone market – e.g., Austria – changed the screener to “Under €9/share”)

At the time of writing, 285 U.S.-traded stocks met these criteria. They were rated at Medium risk, and were showing about a 50% return for the prior three months.

      Dividend Quality Champions

This screener is for you if you’re seeking strong dividend payers that are likely to provide a steady, consistent income stream. This filters for a payout ratio of up to 80%, a payout streak of more than a decade, and a payout growth streak of more than five years – as well as a payout yield that’s higher than zero.

At the time of writing, a whopping 582 U.S.-traded stocks met these criteria. Beyond their generous dividends, these stocks were also showing a decent collective share-price gain of some 5% for the prior three months.

      Profit Powerhouses

This screener would likely appeal to longer-term investors looking for well-run companies that efficiently churn out rich profits. It specifically screens for high gross margins and returns on invested capital – both the most recent figures (taken from the latest quarterly report) and when factoring in the companies’ five-year average for these metrics.

At the time of this writing, just 152 U.S.-traded companies met these criteria. Their average prior three-month return stood at 3%.

      Discounted Cash Cows

This one’s for bargain hunters. It zeroes in on companies whose shares are undervalued, per Investing.com’s Fair Value calculations and discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, and which boast a positive free cash flow; solid free cash flow yield and five-year sales growth; and an Altman Z-Score (over 3) that points to a company with decent financials.

Accordingly, at the time of writing, the screen produced only 74 stocks. In addition, these have collectively sunk around 8% in the prior three months – making them all the more alluring for you if you’re seeking out cheap shares.

      Technical Titans

Finally, here’s an excellent screen for technical analysis fiends that thrive off momentum picks: It seeks out stocks that have been hitting their short-term technical analysis marks. This screen filters for stocks that are up more than 10% in the prior week; have a positive moving average convergence/divergence (MACD) line – i.e., the 12-day moving exponential moving average (EMA) is above the 26-day EMA; and show relative strength index (RSI), stochastic RSI, and stochastic oscillator levels under the overbought point over the prior 14 trading sessions.

At the time of this writing, the screener produced 142 stocks that were collectively up about 23% for the prior three months.

      Wrapping Up

Whether you’re searching for growth stocks, value investments, or income-generating dividends, the screeners provide a straightforward way to rapidly narrow down your investing universe to precisely the kinds of stocks you want in your portfolio, while also giving you the flexibility to fine-tune those screens to your liking.
